Position Overview

The General Worker will support daily production operations by carrying out a variety of manual and basic operational tasks on the production floor. This role is essential in ensuring that production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently while maintaining high levels of cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation of production lines, including feeding raw materials and monitoring output.
  • Pack, sort, and label finished products according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work areas, equipment, and tools in line with food safety requirements.
  • Load, offload, and move materials or products safely within the production facility.
  • Support machine operators and team leaders with basic tasks as needed.
  • Follow health, safety, and food safety guidelines at all times (HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000).
  • Report any defects, damages, or unsafe practices to supervisors immediately.
  • Assist with stock handling, including counting and organizing raw materials and packaging.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Previous experience in a food production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment is an advantage.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety and hygiene practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
